Guyed Mast Inner Cylinder
- Installation of a monopole structure inside a triangular Guyed Mast creating a 30m high head-frame.
- Significantly reduces load on the initial structure whilst increasing available capacity.
- Unlock an additional capacity of 70% without disruption to mission critical networks.
There was a need to increase the existing mast’s capacity as the structure was extremely overloaded. The location itself was remote, and would incur high mobilisation, labour and plant costs. The site had multiple customer locations, making outages for equipment relocations difficult.
The upgrade undertaken was the implementation of Inner Cylinder strengthening.
A new monopole was installed through the middle of the triangular mast to create a new structure. The new mast became a 30m high head-frame sitting on a monopole.
Unlock an additional capacity of 70% without disruption to mission critical networks.
This solution avoided equipment outages and relocations whilst reducing the corrosion risks associated with welding or cavities. It required only moderate on-site labour time and fabrication costs, making it an effective solution for a guyed mast.
By undertaking an Inner Cylinder upgrade, Axicom was able to unlock an additional capacity of 70% without disruption to mission critical networks.
Axicom shared the cost of the upgrade to provide additional future capacity.
This upgrade provided the ability to deploy the initial required technology, while allowing for future deployments to be undertaken without the need for further upgrades.
