SUMMARY

Challenge
There was a need to increase the capacity of the tower, however structural stability issues, created by temporarily removing the leg member, made it difficult to swap out.
Multiple customer installations on the site meant that outages and equipment relocation would be a challenge to conduct.
Solution
The solution was the addition of two-leg sections to the existing leg member; which combined act as

The application of this method allows for substantial capacity increases to meet future requirements and minimal equipment relocation or outages. The task could also be conducted where crane access is limited, allowing for a greater scope of application to sites.

RESULTS
By undertaking a Double Rod Leg Upgrade, Axicom was able to unlock an additional 200% leg capacity without disruption to mission critical networks.
This upgrade provided the ability to deploy the initial required technology, but also means the leg won’t require any further strengthening if additional tower strengthening is required.
